This fall, I will have a classroom of first grade students. These students will come to me with varying strengths, needs, personalities, economic backgrounds and goals which will create a diverse learning environment.
I am thrilled to move from special education to first grade general education.
I am excited to take what I have learned from working in the special education field and provide learning opportunities in differentiated ways. My goal is to get children excited to learn and to become lifelong learners.
I cannot wait to help our future doctors, firefighters, police officers, engineers, designers, etc achieve their individual learning goals.
My Project
Technology plays an integral role in today's society. Our students see their parents using it, their teachers using it, and most likely their peers using it outside of school. It is vital to learn how to use it because, most likely, they will be using it in their future endeavors and careers.
It is our job as educators to provide students with opportunities to interact with technology and use it in a meaningful way.
Technology helps students remain engaged in the learning process and aids students with a wide range of abilities, interests, and learning styles.
I am hoping to use Galaxy tablets in my first grade classroom to give my students a peek into the world of technology and show them how using technology effectively and meaningfully, can help them grow as lifelong learners.
I am excited to use these Galaxy tablets as part of our reading and math centers, so that we can begin phasing out all of the paper-pencil tasks students are currently doing. Through these centers, students will be able to listen to stories being read, use games to practice their phonics and math skills, explore educational websites, and eventually begin creating their own projects to share. The goal of this project is to enhance learning using technology.
