Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember the first time that you ever listened to a story and how you felt? My first graders are just beginning to learn how to read.

I currently teach 27, very sweet, first graders in a Title I school located in a high poverty and high crime area in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

All of my students receive free breakfast and free lunch. Most of my students come from homes where English is not spoken.

My Project

I would love for my 6 and 7 year old students to have a NOOK tablet and a protective case in our classroom so they can listen to stories during Independent reading time. Many of my students are still struggling to read. The NOOK will allow the students to listen to stories, as well as do interactive games with the stories. The Case will protect the NOOK so that it will last longer.

My beginning readers would benefit greatly from listening to stories on the NOOK.

The NOOK case would allow the NOOK to have a longer life. Please make it possible for my first graders to get a new NOOK and case.
