My Project

Our school is located in the poorest congressional district in the nation, and all students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. The school is predominately Latino and African American. Thirty percent of the students are English language learners, and some are the first of their families to graduate. Despite all of this, 100% of our graduating seniors are college or career bound.

Our students should have the same opportunities as any other student in the country.

They work hard to succeed without letting anything get in their way. As a community school, each year our graduation rate has increased, and we want to make their learning as meaningful and purposeful as possible.

Just like we did during the holiday season, we are planning on throwing a senior Valentine's Day dance and party. We need decorations, Valentine's candy bags, and Valentine's Day candy to complete the setting for them. The entire senior committee put together a wish list of what they needed. With Hope, the Valentine's Day dance and secret valentine day surprises for them to give each other.

Since this dance will be during Valentine's Day week, this is a great motivator and incentive for the students to team build amongst one another, and a positive reward for all their hard work during the first semester.
