Help me give my students fun vocabulary building, reading fluency with expression with Reader's Theater plays in a multisensory highly motivating way, a crayon sharpener, and easel pad to enhance their learning and increase student engagement.
I’m a 4th grade Dyslexia and Title I English Language Arts and Reading Teacher. Many of my students have dyslexia, dysgraphia, Irlen’s, severe ADHD, ADD, Autism or ESL. They come from a variety of backgrounds and home life. But they all struggle with reading difficulties. Many are from low socio-economic circumstances, low parent support, or no parent involvement at all. These are my favorite kids to teach because they need someone to believe in them, love them and champion them! I typically spend my own money on even simple things like glue, scissors, and most things. I love doing it because I want them to have what they need to be successful.
These precious students light up with differentiated and multi-sensory engaging lessons.
It keeps them motivated and excited to learn. They are so eager about everything that keeps them on their toes. They love hugs, silly handshakes and dance and sing to remember the skills. They embrace the “family” we created together and have shared their heart with me!
This past year, these amazing kids worked so hard to progressed successfully up to 2 to 3 grade levels in one school year! I'm so proud of them!
My Project
We will use the money from Teachers Pay Teachers to purchase Reader's Theaters plays that promote vocabulary building, increased reading fluency and expression, reading comprehension, and reading strategies with motivating high interest level plays and poems.
My students love to learn in a kinesthetic way and learn so much more with hands-on activities.
We also would use the crayon sharpener for their crayons. We use multisensory lessons with crayons to personalize and color code activities to remember strategies or grammar We also use color enhancements with editing and revising our writing. In fourth grade, learning the writing process and going through the editing and revising stages is a difficult concept and it is helpful to use color to remember the different concepts as we go. Crayons get dull and messy and they cannot be sharpened in our pencil sharpener because it ruins the regular one.
The note pad is a fabulous tool to put strategies in big print and hang it on our classroom walls for my students to refer to anytime they need to remember a concept.
These would all be so appreciated and would help so much with the students' overall growth and confidence in closing the gaps from Covid 19. Thank you for considering donating to our classroom full of sweet and eager curious minded students.
