My students need more experiences with hands-on math activities. Items such as: Busy Bees Subtraction Center & Addition Flip & Solve Board will allow them to explore math operations. Squeeze, Scoop & Count helps with fine motor skills.
I teach at a public elementary school that is high poverty and is all free breakfast and lunch. We are a neighborhood school. The students at my school come from a diverse background and we are also a dual language school.
My students come to school every day happy and excited to learn and have fun!
I teach all day Kindergarten and have special needs students also. I love to provide them with many different opportunities to learn while being active and having fun.
My Project
This project will provide my current and future inclusion classroom students (regular education and special education students) with different opportunities to play through math exploration experiences.
Many young children, especially those identified with special needs greatly benefit from hands-on math exploration opportunities.
Kindergarten aged students also need time to work both independently and with a partner/small groups.
The items that I have included in this project will provide all of my students with the chance to explore math concepts independently and strengthen their skills in the Standards for Mathematical Practice such as: Geometry (shape sorting center & Magnetic Shape Sorting Rods), Measurement & Data (Measurement Magnetic Activity Tin), Counting & Cardinality (Count & Sort Ovens & Lakeshore Number Rockets), Operations & Algebraic Thinking (Busy Bees Hands-On Subtraction Center & Beginning Operations Self-Checking Magnetic Cards), Numbers & Operations in Base 10 (Snap & Slide Number Bonds).
