Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My group is made up of 16 5 and 6-year-old students who are currently in kindergarten. It is a fairly homogeneous group in terms of level and pace of work. They love learning and discovering new things.

They like to participate, are hard-working and like to face different challenges and they love to be doing things on their own.

Behaviorally, they are caring, respectful and always help each other.

Although most of them have a difficult family and economic situation, they always try to show their best side

These students come from families with very few resources, so the degree of cultural deprivation is high which does not allow them to live too many enriching experiences outside their school environment.

My Project

It has been proven that play is a mental and physical activity that favors the development and learning of students.

When they play, not only do they learn new content in a more fun way, but they also learn to create, investigate, fantasize, interact in a group, and resolve conflicts.

With the pandemic, the classrooms have been closed so some of the furniture, games and materials of the learning corners have not been renewed.

In our classroom we need to update the learning corners by providing them with the necessary materials and tools since most of the games and toys are old or scarce.

Currently, in class my students work in 7 centers: reading, drama, construction, art, science, writing and math.

The Science corner, Drama, Constructiion and Art corners are the student's favorites because they allow them to do activities different from those in class, but they are the ones with the least resources.
