Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students attend a Title I School, and almost seventy percent receive free or reduced price lunch and breakfast. They attend a magnet school which requires most students to maintain a B average throughout the year. The students are part of Pre-Med, Engineering, Environmental Science, or Computer Technology programs.

Our students come from the diverse backgrounds of 30 different countries.

This makes our school pretty special in so many ways. The students all work so hard and are very deserving of this project.

My Project

Financial literacy is one of my favorite topics to teach because it's all skills that these students really need to learn. Playing games like Monopoly and Life help teach students life skills while allowing them to have fun. We will set up different gaming stations and the students will compete for a few weeks. They will have a chance to go from one game if they win to the next. When the kids finish their gaming session they will be required to talk about which game they played and what they learned. They will be asked to compare the game to real life. This will give them an opportunity to present to the class and compare their experiences.
