My Students
The students of my school come from many different cultures and each one of them has a personality of their own. I teach in a low-income, high poverty school district. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
Many of them were affected by Hurricane Irma and are still rebuilding their lives while being raised in single-parent households.
My students come to class willing to learn, and I want them to have every chance to learn with the right materials.
These students need equipment for Physical Education to focus on their potential and growth while they are at Physical Education. I may not be able to control their home lives; however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I hope to inspire even our earliest learners.
My Project
We do not play dodgeball, but we need Rhino skin balls in class. Having enough balls for everyone to have one will help with many activities we do. So many times we play games where we need soft balls to play with. They are great to have for the younger kids to handle when we are working on catching skills. The older students play so many games with them and no one gets hurt. We have had to put off some games because there are no softer balls in our equipment. We also need a Pop Up Soccer Goal set because many of our students are actively involved in soccer programs in our county. These goals will help students in maintaining their abilities to practice soccer, a sport they love so much. Finally, the plastic cones are used for other physical education activities for Kindergarten and first graders in recognizing colors.
