This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students love music. All students are excited when they enter my classroom and eager to participate in each music lesson. I teach a diverse group of students who are always willing to try new things and engage in the the music learning process.

The support of the administration, parents and school community for music is strong at my campus.

Each day is a new learning experience for me as well as the students. I am amazed and truly inspired by the things they say and do. They are critical thinkers, and they love performing and singing during music time.

My Project

I have several performance events in music each year in addition to classroom instrumental experiences. Having adequate instruments for each student would be an exciting experience for me and the students!

The students love the challenge of learning to play instruments.

Research has proven that learning to play an instrument stimulates the brain and improves critical thinking skills in children. Additionally, these instruments can be used to take students into STEM and STEAM learning by focusing on pitch relationships and the science of sound. The students' use of the instruments will add to the excitement of music and provide opportunities for students to work in groups as well as participate in individual performances during class and school wide performances.

Playing the drums and bells to perform rhythms to a steady beat will help cement rhythm/beat concepts while reinforcing music reading skills.

Students will be able to participate in rigorous engaging activities utilizing the drums and bells that will motivate them and enhance the music learning experience for each student.
