This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach special need students ranging from ages 3-6. My students have a wide range of disabilities. They are eager to learn in their own unique ways. My classroom is about building skills they will need in the classroom and in life.

The work we do in this classroom is building relationships, playing and working in groups, staying with the group, following directions, and accessing education content in different ways.

We work on students individual needs and goals.

We celebrate little wins together each day.

My Project

My students struggle with basic social skills. They find it difficult to play and work with others. Part of our job is to present opportunities for the students to practice their social skills.

The playhouse will help teach them social skills, cooperative learning, life skills, and core vocabulary words.

As they learn to share and take turns by playing house they are building their social skills, learning to play cooperatively, and building their vocabularies.

Children learn best through play. Having this playhouse will give them authentic learning experiences. They will be taught how to deal with different social situations in the moment.
