I teach 2nd grade in an elementary school nestled in the mountains of far Southwest Virginia. We are a very small school, and we serve an area that has a high number of students living in or near poverty. Many of our parents are not employed. My students are very active and do better with hands on activities. We are combining our second grade classrooms and team teaching all day.
We want to provide our second graders with science tools to use for exploration on the playground during recess each day.
Children are so curious about the world around them and we want to give them the ability to explore their world.
My Project
Please help me give my students tools such as binoculars, bug boxes, nets, and magnifying glasses to use on the playground to explore their world and learn about bugs.
Children are naturally curious and want to explore and learn about the world around them.
By giving all of my students science buckets filled with these exploration science tools such as binoculars, bug kits, magnifying glasses, and tweezers, we are giving them the tools needed to make observations about the world and how it works.
