I teach second grade in an equity plus school. Seventy-five percent of our school's students receive free/reduced lunch. Twenty percent of our students are ESL and eighteen percent of our students are certified as Exceptional Children. Of course, one of the favorite times of the day for my students is recess. I would like to provide my second graders the opportunity to experience play with different types of playground equipment. We have found some resources that would greatly enhance our classroom physical education time. We would like to have bean bags, ribbon rings, a set of assorted balls, hula hoops and jump ropes. This equipment would allow students to work on particular athletic skills, such as jumping or throwing, while still allowing them to be creative. Students will work together with partners or in small groups building friendships and communication skills as well as having a super play time! Hopefully, through offering many fun and exciting opportunities for play, students will develop a life-long love of movement and exercise. This equipment would provide many hours of joy and exercise this year and for many more years to come. Thank you for considering our proposal.
