Mr. Kenyon from Philadelphia PA is requesting sports & exercise equipment through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need the means to practice with goals and safety equipment, such as the goalie gloves and the shin guards.

I am a middle school teacher in Philadelphia, my students are urban public school students. At this school, all of the staff work very hard to bring interesting and worthwhile programs to our students. We are working extremely hard to bring to our students STEM opportunities that will introduce them to the future. Besides the STEM studies that we enrich our students experiences with, we have been able to get our students back into middle school sports programs through a District-led initiative. I formed a soccer team last year in late September to participate in the middle years co-ed soccer program. The students practiced with equipment (balls and cones) that I own and sought success on the pitch, one step at a time. I am proud of how they made due with the limited supplies; but mostly how they could relate the similarities of participating in sports and working hard in their educational endeavors.
My students are always looking to learn.
What I enjoy the most about the group are the smiles on their faces as they take the new skills they worked on in practice and use those skills successfully during a match.
The goal of this project is to start the second year of the school's middle years soccer team with the equipment that is needed to keep all of the student-athletes engaged, motivated, and capable of participating fully in training sessions. We need to practice with goals and safety equipment, such as the goalie gloves and the shin guards.
These sessions are designed to teach the skills needed in the game of soccer, to build a team chemistry, develop teamwork, to seek success, individually and with the team, and finally to have fun.
Finding success on the pitch by training and hard work has been shown to help students realize that the same effort will benefit their classroom activities.
