Help me give my students playdough and playdough related learning tools that will enable them to learn and explore numbers and letters in a hands-on and fun way!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I feel so honored to work as a kindergarten teacher to 20 wonderful students! My kiddos are so sweet, love to share, learn, work, and collaborate together! They are always on the move, engaging in one activity after the next!
I teach in an urban area where students face many challenges both in and out of the classroom.
Many of my students come to me without preschool experience and lack many of the prerequisite skills their suburban counterparts come to school with. Despite these challenges, my students come to me willing and excited to learn! They come to me as dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners who have a thirst for knowledge! They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet. They are budding ambassadors, world travelers, scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers.
They are our future and I want to give them a great start to their long successful educational experience and endeavors.
My Project
My kindergarteners are very energetic and love to learn and explore through play! They also absolutely love, love, love Playdoh! There are so many benefits of incorporating playdough into the kindergarten curriculum! I am requesting these specific playdough items because they will incorporate early literacy and early math skills into their play based learning! Also, learning while working with playdoh encourages strengthening and improving their fine motor skills as well! Fine motor skills are definitely something kindergarteners need practice with in order to be successful beginning writers! My students will love using the playdough mats and stamps to work on improving letter and number formation and recognition! Although all my students will adore learning with playdough, the playdoh activities will really draw in my students who are more tactile learners! Playdough learning is a win-win situation for all!
