My students need Crayola model magic clay and sets of Playcolor poster paints.
In our classroom, we do things in a big way--big projects, big pictures, and big smiles.
My fourth graders live in a working class and immigrant neighborhood.
Most of them are learning English as a second language, some have special needs, and all of them love to learn. Our Title I school is an important safe haven for my kids, who are surrounded by poverty and gang activity.
Every year my students transform the classroom into a museum. Sometimes we depict a novel, sometimes a scientific concept. We cover the walls in murals to make the transformation complete. In the past, our room has turned into the Hogwarts School from Harry Potter, Two Mills from Maniac Magee, and gold rush era San Francisco. This year, my kids are creating a zoo. We are collecting live animals like lizards and tree frogs, plus lots of animal books, to create our zoo.
Now what we need are good paints to create colorful murals and clay to sculpt some animals and their habitats. The poster paints dispense the paint cleanly and easily. We will make visions of a tropical rain forest and a southwestern desert. With the clay, my students want to create a meerkat hill!
We are asking for a variety of Playcolor poster paint stick sets, including a class set of 144 paints, metallic paints, and thin marker sets, plus Crayola model magic clay.
Because of your generous donation, my students will create beautiful works of art worthy of covering our classroom walls.
Our murals will pop with the colors of a tropical rainforest and a painted desert. These murals will be huge, and the smiles will be enormous. My students and I thank you!
