My students need a Playaway book station. The Playaway will offer stories in audio format; this will help students that are reluctant readers and struggling readers.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school library is the center of the school. The students enjoy visiting daily to check out new books and research interesting information on the internet. Our school library is a welcoming space to come an explore and learn new information.
"A library is not a luxury but one of the necessities of life."–Henry Ward Beecher.
Our students come from families that earn low incomes. All of the students in the school receive free lunch. The students need to be given the opportunity to create and explore various hands on learning opportunities.
My Project
The purpose of this project is offer students an alternative format to enjoy stories. Playaways are known to create deeper engagement and inspire positive attitudes about reading.Incorporating a station specifically for the use of Playaways, will allow of the students the opportunity to listen to great stories. The incorporation of Playaways in the library will offer the benefits of being read aloud to in a simple-to-use player that allows easy access without the assistance of an adult. The Playaways will help to improve literacy, comprehension and retention and instill confidence in struggling readers. All students need the opportunity to listen to great stories!
