I have the privilege of working at a school that encompasses Kindergarten through 5th grade students who come from all walks of life. As a Title I school, 80% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. In addition to those challenges, many have academic, emotional, and behavioral needs.
When students are able to manage their big emotions, they are better able to succeed in school and in life.
My students strive to do their best. As their school counselor, I would love to help them pursue their passions.
My Project
For students with excess energy, a sensory path will provide an appropriate energy release area. This tool will also support students in regulating their emotional energy, which will allow them to refocus and engage in the academic setting.
Engaging students in movement through play allows them to release big emotions in a fun and safe way.
Students will be engaged through various movements, such as: crawling like a bear, hopping like a bunny, balancing, twisting, turning, pushing, stretching, jumping, and running.
By donating to my project, you will be helping me provide the social and emotional support that my students need to thrive.
