This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from a low-income, high poverty school district. They are faced daily with challenges both inside and outside the classroom. However, they always arrive at school eager to learn and with a smile on their face. I'm always looking to find new ways to make learning fun, creative, and meaningful for them.
For most of my students, this is their first experience with school.
Most of them did not attend preschool and have no concept of sitting in a classroom and learning all day. I feel as though, it is my job to develop a love of learning that will hopefully last a lifetime.
My Project
Many of my students come to school with very few social skills. Along with teaching my students normal reading, writing, and math, I try to teach them how to play with one another, how to be kind, and how to cooperate. A lot of this comes through play.
Kindergartners need to play to learn how to socialize.
I am asking for you to help me purchase some items to complete my farm, my dollhouse, and my LEGO. I need some new culturally diverse dolls for my dollhouse. I need more farm animals and tractors for my farm, and I would love a Lego table for my students to use the LEGO I have.
