My students need hands-on learning centers and engaging learning materials such as Twist & Turn 4-Letter Word Builders, Learning Sight-Words Activity Chest, laminating pouches, colored paper, and markers.
I am privileged to teach special education in a school of over 500 students. We have a diverse socio-economic population, so I strive to provide equitable experiences in the classroom for each student.
My students are bright, dynamic, and creative.
Most of them struggle with language-based disabilities that can make reading difficult.
My goal each day is to provide rich literacy experiences that connect with my students so that they can fall in love with reading and all of the learning and connections that can be found between the covers of a great book.
My Project
My students require individualized curriculum and learning materials. These Astrobrights paper, laminating sheets, and dry-erase markers will be used to create brightly colored flash cards and interactive learning activities. The hands-on reading activities will be used as learning centers that meet the needs of each child.
We often practice similar skills in new ways, and these resources will help increase engagement and keep the students excited and learning important skills through play.
An excited and engaged student is one who is learning, and the fulfillment of this project will bring a new element of color and play to our classroom.
