My students live in a rural community of about 2,000 residents. They may not realize it yet, but they are growing and learning in a very supportive and tight-knit community that cares about each of them. In my classroom, I have 15 kindergartners of varying social, emotional, and academic needs. They are creative, clever, and spontaneous! They have so much excitement for school and learning; it makes my job so enjoyable! My students are unique individuals with unlimited potential. It is my job to ignite their excitement for learning so they can reach their full potential!
My Project
Young children learn essential social and emotional skills best through play. My students need financial literacy books and and dramatic play supplies to develop essential social and emotional skills. It is important that kindergarten students get the opportunity to learn through play. These materials will help students learn empathy, sharing, and turn taking as they pretend to play various roles. These are skills that students need to be successful in life. We will read the financial literacy books during our money unit to teach kids about needs and wants as well as how to be responsible with money. The dramatic play supplies will be set up as a diner, post office, and grocery store at different times during the school year to reinforce social and financial literacy skills!
Dramatic play increases students awareness of the world they live in.
They develop social-emotional skills as well as cognitive and language skills as they pretend with their peers.
Thank you for helping us grow our imaginations and develop essential skills!
