Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are incredible, smart, curious, special needs students ranging in age from three to five years old. Our classroom is filled with many different abilities and personalities. Our students are learning and thriving with their abilities. Some students are autistic, some have severe speech impairments, and one student has Williams syndrome. All our kiddos are active and love to learn through sensory-rich activities. We use assistive technology on a daily basis, and our students love to read, write, color, and create!
Our students are economically disadvantaged, and our school is a Title I school with 100% free lunch.
We are located in beautiful Austin, Texas.
My Project
This project is all about movement and motor skills. Young children learn best through play and social interaction with their peers. These resources where selected with this in mind. Each activity will help to promote play as a means of learning how to interact and socialize with other peers. While playing with these resources, the children will also be developing and strengthening their motor skills. Often, children with special needs face challenges in this important area of development. This is true for my students. This project will help support them in this domain. With these tools, we will be helping to grow their minds and bodies in a fun and exciting way!
