My students need educational games like Manza, Dr. Shark and Gravity Maze to enhance their learning experiences. The Lego materials will be the start of a Lego wall.
Have you ever been enjoying an activity and then late on realized that "Oh my you actually, learned something or completed a task!"
I am a Media Specialist in a 100% Title I inner city school.
I see students from the ages of 5-14. We are a STEAM school and over the past 3 years since we began this transformation we are seeing a dramatic increase in engagement among our students. This is my first year in this position and I am trying very hard to set up a STEAM centered Media Center in our building.
My Project
My students will use these materials to learn while engaging in hands on, relevant experiences. Who would have thought you could teach while playing. When my students play these games and build with these tools they will be engaging in real learning. With the Lego materials we will build a Lego wall in the library that will be a permanent fixture. Students will be able to start creating as soon as they walk in the door. With games like Dr. Shark and Manza children will learn problem solving skills along with content while playing. Games like Suspend and Gravity Maze will allow children to not only work on problem solving but some engineering strategies as well. These games are STEAM centered and will enhance the learning experience in the Media Center.
When this project gets funded my students will have more tools to help open up the possibilities for them in the future.
They will be engaged in learning without even realizing what they are doing. The students will have an opportunity to build, create and play with their peers.
