I work with a class of twenty-three fourth graders who are eager to learn. My classroom is not just a place to learn. It is also a place where my students learn that they are able to change the world through the choices and decisions they make in their lives.
The majority of students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch meaning they qualify for at least part, if not all, of the cost of their meals to be paid for by the district due to low parent income at home.
Many of my students come from low income homes, and this can negatively affect their ability to learn successfully. My students come to school wanting to learn and with a positive attitude about school no matter what is going on in their lives. They are hard workers who want to do good things with their lives, and they know it starts here in the classroom.
My Project
My students are in need of playground equipment for rotations during structured activity. Every day, my students receive 30 minutes of play time outside in organized activities. We like to do rotations so the kids are exposed to many different activities and sports each day.
Kickballs, soccer balls, hula hoops, and catch-tail balls are needed to help these kids burn off energy and have some fun.
All kids deserve to have a good time and play with their friends every day. This equipment will allow them to do so in an organized, safe, and fun way.
My students will rotate through a kickball game, a soccer game, a hula hoop station, and a catch-tail ball station to have fun and to improve physical fitness and hand-eye coordination. These activities will also help reinforce teamwork lessons. Students will learn how to get along with others as they will have to work with their other teammates to complete activities.
