My students need Peaceable Kingdom board games to help them learn to play together cooperatively and respectfully, which will, in turn, help them to be better friends and citizens.
At this age, our students are so excited about learning! They come to school chomping at the bit to find out what we are going to be diving into each and every day. When dealing with 5 and 6 year olds, you make it your goal to create all lessons that grasp their attention and help them strengthen their brain muscles at the same time. They are always itching for more! These students are eager to "grow their brains," and they look to their teacher to help them with that.
My Project
Children have become so dependent on electronic devices that cooperative games and free play can be difficult. Research shows that teaching and modeling social and conversation skills are critical in order for children to acquire these skills for both work and play.
These Peaceable Kingdom games will help students learn to work together cooperatively.
They require children to converse about strategies and opinions of the other players. Players have to work together for a common goal rather than trying to be triumphant over each other. These games foster teamwork, learning to compromise, and accepting feedback from others. After engaging in these games for a while, they will begin to ask, "What do you think?," "Can you help me find the best way?," and compliment each other on good ideas!
