My students are athletically talented, eager to learn new things, and always asking questions. Our school has a special education program that services kids at every grade level.
We also have an English Language Learner other than Spanish program (ELLs) where we see PreK-5th-grade children coming to our school from China, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Korea, Russia, and many other countries.
We are a close-knit, high-performing school that has had success in integrating all these different types of learners into general education classrooms, library, art, music, and physical education. (That's me!)
My Project
Music is a very important aspect in a gym setting. It keeps kids active and excited and they learn that when the music goes off to stop talking and sit down. Our current stereo is a home shelf system was purchased with personal funds last year after our old stereo suddenly died. It's just not strong enough for our needs in a 4,000 square foot space with 60-70 students at a time.
A Bluetooth speaker can be easily controlled by my co-teacher and I's smart watches and cell phones so we don't have to get close to a blaring speaker to mute or turn off the sound.
Although I am a technology oriented person, I still use my whiteboard on a daily basis. Our current board has seen better days. It has many scratches and ghosting where the markers just don't wipe off anymore. I have wanted to get a magnetic whiteboard for many years. It will make it easier to store whiteboard markers in a magnetic marker holder. I can use small magnets to hang up visual aids as well.
Our school year may have been cut short early, but I am greatly looking forward to the upcoming school year.
