Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 30 special education Pre-K students. These are some of the greatest and most courageous students. They attend school in one of the highest poverty districts in the state. Yet, with multiple disabilities and adversities, that does not dissuade them in any way in learning.
They know their teachers care, but we lack the full resources to teach them to their fullest extent.
My students are just beginning life. They deserve a break too. Will you please help them? Thanks! We all really appreciate your support.
My Project
Dramatic play is essential for students at this age. It allows them the opportunity to build their language skills, interact with peers, form friendships, and this helps them grow in their ability to inhibit their impulses, coordinate with others, and make plans. Moreover, dramatic play encourages children to resolve conflict, consider alternative perspectives, and recognize the various roles and responsibilities individuals have in our society. Finally, dramatic play can also increase reading comprehension. Kids often choose to act out scenes from a favorite storybook. This gives them a deeper understanding of the narrative structure and character motivations found in familiar stories.
These items, which will be placed during centers time, will help these students build their social skills, use their imagination in creating, learn more about members of society, and make friends while interacting with each other!
