My Project
Children entering the school year as Kindergarteners need to develop a wide range of skills. Not only do they need to grow academically, but they also need social and emotional growth. Play based learning can help our young students learn and grow in a variety of different ways.
Learning through play not only strengthens academic skills, but also fosters the development of social and emotional growth as well.
Students in a center with a kitchen might just seem like ordinary play, however these students would be working on math skills like counting to 20, fractions, and identifying shapes. The same center would allow students to learn how to solve problems, take turns, and socially interact with each other. Students could then be inspired to write their own recipes or create a grocery list of things they need. The possibilities are endless!
All the items in this project would be used for several centers throughout the classroom to keep students engaged during creative play. Imagine what these little minds can imagine, create, and build throughout the school year!
