My students need varying types of manipulatives to learn hands on how to problem solve independently and in small groups. Also, items such as Legos and blocks allow students to learn while they play!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my second grade class are socio-economically, racially, culturally and academically diverse. They are a community of inclusive and curious minds, and I was lucky to know some of them from my first grade class!
Last school year, these (now) second graders led an inquiry project on homelessness in Los Angeles that was recognized and honored by Mayor, Eric Garcetti!
I hope to provide my students with an environment that will allow them to learn and grow, and continue to think about making an impact on the world.
My Project
This year will be my first year as a lead teacher and I have to fund my classroom, which means, provide an environment that is engaging and meaningful to my classroom of academically diverse learners. Legos and math manipulatives are a staple to every elementary classroom.
These materials will give support to students that need it, and push higher achieving students to get creative and find multiple ways of learning.
With these materials, I can create a curriculum that will accomodate all types of learners; and I can use personal funds on other necessary classroom materials like a document camera and laminator!
