Help me give my students a new Play Kitchen that has a fridge, microwave and oven, a play table and chairs to play at the kitchen and set up meals, a cubby system and mailboxes.
My students are a great group of kindergarteners who are excited about learning through play. They find joy in the little things and want to explore and have an organized and functional classroom to play in.
The students are very curious about the world around them and are so invested in what they learn.
They are always asking meaningful questions about how things work and how things are made.
Free choice play time is one of their favorite activities because it gives them time to interact with their peers and take control of their own learning.
My Project
The new play kitchen and the table and chairs will be used daily during our morning exploration centers. The cubby system will house the children's materials since we don't have desks. It will help organize their folders, notebooks and crayon boxes. The mailboxes will help the students stay organized by putting their finished papers in it and their folders to take home daily.
Kindergarten is an important time to learn social skills and how to interact with peers during play.
The students will use the play kitchen and table and chairs every morning when we have free play. They said "We would pretend eat, wash hands and cook pizza."
The students are also learning at this age how to be responsible for taking care of their supplies. They said they would use cubbies and mailboxes "That would help everyone put their stuff in easy and help us not to lose our things."
