Help me give my students the chance to experience a play based kindergarten. Children learn best through play. Open ended materials such as the wooden blocks allow them time to plan and create and experiment.
My classroom is in a low income district. Many of the students have struggles inside and outside of the classroom. Despite the challenges they face they are so eager to learn and grow. Their ability to persevere makes me so proud of them.
Kindergarten is such a vital time for learning.
I currently have 22 students-11 boys and 11 girls. We are an active and caring group. They are truly kind hearted little people who deserve all that I can give them. They need to develop so many skills and are setting the ground work for years to come.
My Project
I am so excited to embrace the joy of learning through play. There is so much research that explains the importance of young children being active participants in their learning and growth. " Children learn as they play.Most importantly through play they learn how to learn." (The learning station)
The materials have been carefully chosen to be open-ended, creative and encourage imagination and teamwork!
The puppet stage is for retelling stories and creating their own. The blocks are for designing and experimenting with building and ramps. The easel is for creative express through painting. The opportunities for learning are endless!
