Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine being in a situation where there are many new faces, you are learning your way around, and you have many new directions to follow. This can be very overwhelming, especially for a kindergartner. However, with support, we can help ease their worries and achieve success.
My students are bright and energetic kindergartners, some who speak a language other than English.
Some of the students attended pre-k at our school last year, while many others did not. These students are not only learning how to be a kindergartner, but they are also learning in two languages!
My Project
This year I have focused on creating more options for my students to choose from during centers time and the results have been very positive so far! I have noticed that my students love playing with Magna-Tiles and I know they will be thrilled to have a greater variety with the expansion sets. They will be able to use their imaginations to make endless possibilities of creations and inventions.
Play is an essential part of the day in kindergarten.
The art materials will allow my student to explore another facet of play. Art is so important in early childhood education and I know my students will enjoy making their own works of art with the Kwik Stix!
