I am a first-year teacher blessed to be beginning my career at the school where I served as a student teacher. I have 23 first graders in my class.
Overall, my students are very social, inventive and creative.
Most students are visual and kinesthetic learners. Like most six and seven year olds, my students learn best by "playing", which is why we do a lot of games and group activities in my class.
In our room, we learn the California standards, but also do a lot of activities that foster collaboration, creativity, and communication.
Learning to read is a very difficult task. It is also a key focus in first grade. My six and seven year olds have been working all year to develop their reading skills.
Since my students are kinesthetic and visual learners, they would love to play and benefit from these phonics games.
I am so excited to introduce them to the blending dominoes and CVC word builder. The sight word flash cards would be used daily in my guided reading groups. I especially like how they are leveled and differentiated.
Lastly, I will use the Pico projector to trace images from my computer onto posters. I find so many great maps, anchor charts, and learning visuals online. However, I am not the best artist (nor do I have the best handwriting) and I really need guidance when drawing and writing. With this projector, I will be able to create so many posters and visual aids for my students.
