Play Equipment Does a Body and Mind Good! Play On!
My students need additional playground equipment such as the giant outdoor blocks, log builders, balls and catching game to promote socialization and motor skills during outdoor play.
My students are curious, energetic, and active ranging in age from three to five, who love exploring and learning. Coming from different economic statuses and family backgrounds, they all bring unique qualities to the classroom. They yearn to explore through play and interaction with peers.
Providing opportunities for my students to meet the developmental motor skills for their age is very important.
As of now the students have very limited play equipment that promotes gross motor skills they are lacking. All of my students need and deserve a playground full of fun equipment that promotes not only motor skills but also socialization and imagination!
My Project
Developing strong social skills along with fine and gross motor skills at an early age prepares students for everyday self help needs and academic success. Currently my preschool students have very limited resources for outdoor play to promote these skills. Preschoolers are full of energy and curiosity and in order to tap into their full potential I need to provide them with the best learning environment possible.
With the help of generous donations, my students will not only strengthen motor skills but they will also learn cooperation, sharing and build on their vocabulary through their social interactions.
Through the use of the building blocks and large linking logs students will be able to tap into their curiosity, building anything their heart desires while, unbeknownst to them, strengthening their motor skills. My students love to play kick ball and catch but our balls have slowly disappeared. With new balls and gloves, they can continue to play all those games they love while again building on their skill set.
Finally, we have a sand/water table that we have placed in storage because of limited access to water and NO sand. My students will once again be able to play in the outdoor sand table with the sand I have requested. Who doesn't love to play in sand, and the learning experiences above and beyond the fine motor skill development they will build are endless!
