The Early Learning Center is a special education preschool where more than 200 children with disabilities attend and participate in a preschool setting. All children who qualify attend at no charge. They are all bused to the school. We have children here who need speech and language therapy, who have autism or down syndrome. Some of the children have vision or hearing disabilities. Some need occupational therapy or physical therapy. We also have some children attend the school as a peer model in our classrooms. They are invaluable as they show appropriate behavior and model correct speech and language.
Because of the variety of disabilities of the children who attend, we use a variety of teaching materials, strategies and styles.
This means that we need lots of different and interesting things in our classrooms to engage and motivate the children learn.
The children are eager to learn and participate, have fun and make friends, and we learn from them every day!
My Project
Who didn't love play dough as a kid? And who can resist it still. There is something about the colors, the texture, the creativity, that makes play dough a favorite of children of all ages and abilities.
Having a supply of colorful, fresh play dough in the classroom gives all children a readily available resource for a colorful, creative, small muscle building, language rich and socially stimulating experience.
All children enjoy squishing, molding, rolling, and cutting play dough.
I am asking for a supply of 10 buckets of 10 different colors of play dough for use in my preschool classroom. Thanks!
