My students need 12 cases of Play-Doh to create models of plant and animal cells, as well as a model of an animal cell and a model of a plant cell.

My Students

Do you remember your first cell model? I know mine was in a CD case with all the parts represented by various items.

Help my students build their first cell out of Play-Doh.

Together we will construct the different structures of the plant and animal cells with the help of magnetic cell structures to guide us. There is something wonderful about rolling the fine structures and molding the dough into what you visualize the structures to be. I think that students, when given the opportunity, will connect more strongly with the materials and concepts, thus achieving the objective of the lesson even more.

My Project

With 120 containers of Play-Doh, each of my students will be able to build their own cell with many colors. Often times there is not enough of a material to allow EACH student to build their own model. With a donation of so many containers, we could all have our own. With diagrams on the board and Play-Doh in our hands, each student will have the opportunity to grow and create at his or her own pace.

Please help make the structures of the cell come alive for my students' first diagram of the cell.

We all know that by high school, their creations will be even more elaborate and creative since they already have started to connect some of the parts and their functions.
