I have a class of 22 incredible kindergartners!! These boys and girls come to school everyday eager and excited to learn. I am fortunate to have a group of such innovative and creative learners.
With that being said, I need to continue to help build on the creative and innovative side of my students.
My students would benefit from a selection of STEM activities. These activities encourage creativity while using all academic areas. Even though they are playing, they are also growing as learners.
Kindergarten is a time of immense knowledge growth and development in the life of a child. It can set the tone for a child's entire lifetime view of learning. Meeting the needs of every child is not an easy task, but something I strive for everyday. Having these activities will help in many ways.
My Project
Elementary students are challenged with long strenuous days and very little time to play. What can a teacher do? We find a way to incorporate learning and fun in one! STEM activities will come to the rescue. Stem activities challenge students to build and create their own products. They discover alternate ways to find answers to questions while collaborating with their peers.
Starting the school day with a STEM activity will set the students up for success.
The STEM activities are different activities that include building different objects, and making different designs. The Early Simple Machines Set, Magna-Tiles, Young Architects, and the Lakeshore Manipulative Library will help my students expand their thinking through play. The class will also be challenged to think outside the box. These are not your normal everyday manipulatives the students are used to using.
As a teacher, I want my students to be excited to come to school and make choices on what they want to learn and how they would like to learn it. I know these STEM activities will help the students think outside of the box!
