We are a STEM-based charter school in Southwest Florida with 74% free or reduced-price lunches. What makes the school and each classroom unique is diversity. The variety of cultures within my classroom creates a wonderful mix of students, each bringing distinctive perspectives from their backgrounds.
Albert Einstein said, " Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think." Each day my students come to class eager to learn, excited to see what new challenges the day will bring.
My students' eyes light up when they comprehend a concept, they are excited and animated when immersed in a project, and work together and share ideas. It is truly an honor to have the opportunity to guide and motivate students and instill a love of learning.
There are many benefits to playing games in the classroom. Students become more motivated to learn, pay attention and participate when involved in game playing. The educational games chosen help students comprehend phonics: consonants, vowels, digraphs, and blends. Players learn letter patterns and letter positioning as they build words.
“Play is our brain’s favorite way of learning.” – Diane Ackerman
As an educator, I want to see students engaged in their learning. Students who manipulate materials spark higher-level thinking skills and benefit students of all learning styles. By interacting with educational games, students problem-solve, are creative, and think critically. When utilizing games, learning becomes a positive, fun activity which in turn creates happy, motivated students.
