My Students
Students participating in PLTW Biomedical Science are in grades 9 - 12. Each class builds upon each other and is required to be completed in succession. Year 1 starts with PBS (Principals of Biomedical Science) followed by year 2, HBS (Human Body Systems), year 3 is MI (Medical Interventions), and the final year is BI (Biomedical Innovations).
These classes allow students to focus and solve real-world problems within the medical field.
Students use various laboratory equipment to carry out research and experiments to create new ways of dealing with today's medical issues.
My Project
The PLTW Biomedical program offers students a vast amount of hands-on activities including microscopic analysis of various cells and tissues. With the purchase of microscopes and slides, students will be able to gain skills in proper ways to use a microscope as well as visualize the human body at a cellular level. In addition, our class will also be able to peer tutor with our Special Education Department by sharing these microscopes with their class. Currently our Special Education Department does not have access to microscopes. My PLTW course has been working to do more peer-to-peer interactions, and this type of lab would be perfect for that!
