Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a 90+ % of students who are on free or reduced lunch. They are 4th graders who love to be read aloud to and enjoy discussing many different topics in order to reach those higher order thinking skills.
The joy of teaching on our campus comes from the motivation our students have to learn!
Our students enjoy attending school, and many times are disappointed when a holiday is near because they will be away from school for so long. So we invite you to help us become a stronger academic learning environment!
My Project
Students on my campus have not been exposed to a LOVE of reading. In order to plant a seed of love for books, the students need to be exposed to graphic novels during independent reading time. The graphic novels are engaging and high interest for the students. Once they build a love for books, they will be eager to extend their reading levels to higher leveled books.
High interest books will also be an effective material use during Guided Reading time!
The National Geographic books have wonderful pictures, highlighted text, and great text features to expose students to great pieces of Non-Fiction work.
