Plant Investigation!

Help me give my students the materials needed to further their interest in hydro and aquaponics! With these materials, they can investigate and experiment with ways to feed our growing world!

My Students

We are a small Title I school in rural Michigan, with about 50% of students receiving free or reduced lunch. My students are very energetic, creative, and love hands-on projects. They are very curious and love to express themselves and their ideas!

Even though we live in a very rural area of Michigan with lots of farm families, students have little knowledge of growing plants themselves.

We recently began experimenting with plants and have grown and shown off plants growing in just a glass of water and avocado seeds growing into trees and students are amazed!

My Project

With the hydroponic grow kit, students will be able to see farming from a new perspective. They can plant and grow vegetables on a larger scale, beyond the quart jar aquaponics set up we currently have. This will also allow them hands-on experiences where they can watch and document plant growth and production, and eat their successes!

These materials also allow us to branch out and investigate beyond traditional farming methods to prepare us for feeding our ever-growing population and imagine how gardening and agriculture will look in the future.

Hydroponics also allows students to investigate the many agriculture-related careers available to them!
