Help me give my students a classroom set of books relating to the journey of a local resident hiking the Appalachian Trail, a trail guide and cookbook.
As a Special Education teacher, I work with students who need academic support. At my school, I am able to have a large percentage of students in the classrooms, unless a student requires accommodations for testing. I feel honored that students feel comfortable enough to want to come to me and share a part of their day. I would like to offer additional tools for students when they are at school to continue their support needs.
In high school, new and exciting resources are welcomed for all students in the school to use!
There are times when students need additional resources to grasp the concepts or the task(s) being taught. Thank you for your time and interest in my students. I am working to be proactive with my students, school, and community to offer more hands-on ways to learn. Our students live in a small, very rural area with very little cultural diversity. The school is the town.
My Project
We want to read about and plan a virtual adventure along the Appalachian Trail. In English class, we will be able to work on reading, math, history, mapping skills, and much more while planning our journey. I am requesting a classroom set of books relating to the journey of a local resident hiking the Appalachian Trail, a trail guide and cookbook. I want students to come prepared to learn and participate in class discussions. Since the Appalachian Trail is a major part of our local history and the book revolves around a local hiker.
I want students to understand that doing your school work can lead to personal and financial success!
At the end of reading the book, I would like to have students plan their own journey of the walk being sure to include any additional resources needed for a successful trip. Having the needed supplies provided along the way. Cooking their meals as needed. Once we read the book I feel the students will have their own ideas to plan a trip. I hope to infuse my students with enthusiasm for learning to succeed and learn the value of money.
