This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach a section of middle school leadership for 7th graders and then later in the day teach a leadership class for grades 9-12. My students are in a urban setting and live in a high need community.
My students need to become more organized! They are in charge of most school activities such as homecoming, blood drives, and service learning activities. They often forget things and don't have skills to help them stay organized with the many activities inside and outside of school.
I would like for each of my leadership students to have planners to assist them with keeping track of their meetings and school work. I would use these as a teaching tool in class to assist me in instructing the students on time management and planning skills.
Your help will provide my students with the opportunity to learn these skills in a real world situation. Time management and planning skills are an integral part of a leadership curriculum. Learning to use this tool will also help them in their adult life as they become the next generation of working Americans and future leaders.
