Mrs. Olszewski from Montgomery AL is requesting a class trip through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need to go on a field trip to the Planetarium to learn about science.

My kindergarten class is very active this year, and question everything. They are so excited about science and learning new things. My goal for the end of the year is to have great readers. My favorite quote is, "Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world." - Nelson Mandela
My students are born into poverty, but they are the sweetest kids I know.
They soak up everything and want to learn so badly. Their parents don't work with them at home so I am mom, grandma, doctor, psychiatrist, and all of the above. Our school is the same through fifth grade. We try to help our students by supplying as much for them as we can. We just used our Title I money to purchase school supplies so the parents weren't burdened with the thought of not being able to provide for their kids. It has been a great help. We have some parents that want to be involved and others who are not involved. I love my students and want the best for them. A field trip to the Planetarium would be awesome because they could not afford to go on their own. We are so blessed to have a great staff and some parents who really want the best for the students.
This project is for a field trip to the Planetarium. My students would be able to see learning in a whole new way. They would probably never get to go to the Planetarium on their own, so this field trip will be a great way to get them excited about science. We do not use a science textbook but we like to incorporate science into our reading and math curriculum. My students love learning about science. We just finished a unit on pumpkins and we went to the pumpkin patch to finish up the unit. The students had a blast and I know they would love to go somewhere they never have been. We as teachers try to do as much as possible for our students because they do not get a chance to do much because of financial issues. This trip would enhance their learning and maybe spark a light for someone to become a scientist someday.
Our students struggle with poverty so many parents do not have the extra money to take them places, especially the Planetarium.
This field trip would be a great way to get our students more excited about learning and science. My students are very curious, and this will help them see learning in a whole new way.
