Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Students here at DHS located, in Greensboro, NC are extraordinary and unique. They are intelligent and grasp things quickly. However, many if these students are immensely disadvantaged. This is due to a conglomerate of reasons. According to NC School Report Cards, only 15% of the student come into the school academically prepared, and over half of the total students are economically disadvantaged. DHS takes a lot of pride in our students. Teachers use the resources that are available to them. Yet, education is only part of the high school experience. The environment must be sufficient in order for students to effectively learn. Both education and environment play hand in hand. Students learning and expanding their education makes them special.

My Project

Many students are disoriented due to the disadvantages they face both inside and outside the classrooms. This can subside with the help of a student planner.

Planners enhance the organization and responsibility of students.

Many schools have discontinued the requirement of a planner. Communication with teachers, students, and parents can improve drastically with a planner, especially with those who are disadvantaged.

We have a special group of students here at Dudley High that are more prone to conflict, whether it be academically, economically, or behaviorally. With the help of student planners, students will have an added sense of responsibility and organization.
