My students need a class set of blank books to publish their writing.

Do you remember how proud you were when you wrote a book in elementary school? I remember being so proud of myself when I got to take home my book in 3rd grade. It made the writing and rewriting all worth it! My students usually write on plain paper, but their own book would be so exciting!
My students attend a Title I school in an urban setting.
Nearly all students qualify for free and reduced meals, yet they love to write stories and tell about their own lives and experiences. One day during writing, I was telling my students that they were learning to become authors and one student raised his hand and asked. "Why don't we write real books like in the library?" I asked what he meant and another student chimed in to explain that we only write with paper and we don't make "real" books. I knew that they meant books with a hardcover. I want to give them this opportunity because I know it will motivate them to complete all the steps in the writing process before publishing in their own book.
Being able to publish their own book will allow my students to complete the writing process and understand what it really means to be an author. They will be able to watch their idea grow and change through their own hard work. These blank books will provide my students with the opportunity to capture their writing and share with their classmates, friends, and families.
The blank books will allow my students to take an idea all the way through the writing process and celebrate their accomplishment by having their own book to keep.
They will be able to understand what publishing truly means rather than simply writing on paper.
