My Students
"Can I bring my mom in, to show her my lighting project?" This question was the first of many "teaching moments" that solidified why I am happy to be educating South Carolina high school students in theater. In my district, my class is the first opportunity these students have to experience theater academically, and a lot of times recreationally.
Performance arts are invaluable disciplines that positively affect SAT scores, student self-esteem, and create real-world ready students.
My students are thirsty for theatrical experiences and opportunities to be on stage! They soak up every opportunity to learn and perform and I am so glad to be able to help them succeed!
My Project
Theses sit spots are going to help the students and I mark "places" for blocking scenes and create a fast transition in the classroom so we can use our time efficiently.
Organization is KEY in a theater classroom.
I have a clear place for the students to go when we are transitioning between classes the class will flow better, and the students will remain focused.
They will also help us mark our scenes for blocking and create an outline of the stage in my classroom so the students will be able to practice staying in the right space during rehearsals even if we are not on the stage.
