My first-grade classroom is a place where I get to watch my students' faces light up each day as they have fun learning. They're very ambitious individuals who enjoy having discussions about current events ranging from sports to national disasters.
We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, alternative seating, and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!
They're truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!
My Project
I believe that education in financial literacy must begin early! I am teaching the basics of financial literacy. My students love playing games.
By having a variety of finance themed books and motivating math center activities, I will be able to motivate my students to learn mathematics, and in turn, learn financial literacy.
I would love to transform my classroom into a pizzeria by using red checked table cloths, chefs hat, and aprons to get my students into character while they're buying pizza! I will use the laminating pouches to help create materials that will last for years to come! I would also like to use read-aloud books about money in my financial literacy lessons. These math books will be a great way to have discussions about counting, adding, subtracting, comparing, and saving/spending.
By teaching my students financial literacy, I am providing them with basic skills for their future. My students will be able to learn the foundation of financial literacy and build upon this knowledge.
