Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are an elementary school located in the Bronx. Our school is a Title I school with 100% free and reduced lunch population. Most of our students are English language learners who have immigrated to the US in hopes of a better education.
Our students love engaging in fun activities that will help spark creativity.
They are fearless when it comes to technology and, as children of the 21st-century, they need to be prepared to use a variety of tools to engage their world.
My Project
My English language learners have been learning to retell and write their own version of the classic gingerbread story with their own cultural twist and food. In addition, they will be learning how to write their own how-to books. I would love for them to visit Two Boots Pizzeria to learn how to make their own pizzas! This project will cover the cost of students attending a Make Your Own Pizza workshop. After the field trip, students will write their own books about how to make pizza! They will learn the basic steps of creating and making pizza. Then, the best part - they will eat the pizza they made!
Through this amazing project students will have the opportunity to learn how to make pizza, eat pizza and create their own books about making pizza!
This project will be a dream come true for our little writers and English language learners. With your help, we can provide memories that will last a lifetime!
