This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are imaginative and fun-loving kids. They are hard-working students who are held to high expectations. They want to succeed and try their best every day. They come from low-income households and have not had much experience with the world outside their small community. Many are ESL learners from multiple countries.
Many of my students face numerous challenges in their lives including hunger, safety, and unstable living situations.
Despite the hardships they are facing at home, they show up at school excited and ready to learn!
My Project
These hand puppets will help my students have a great year in music class. The students will have so much fun with these puppets as they sing, dance, and act out stories.These hand puppets will be used by the children in a variety of movement, singing, and literature activities--specifically to you for pitch exploration and song storytime. We also have as part of our K-2 curriculm a segment of our lesson called "Arioso Land." When we go to this magical class, students are only allowed to use their singing voices to communicate as themselves or transform and sing like a cat, puppy etc! Children get to create their own songs! Its delightfully engaging! These puppets will be an important part of that.
Having these puppets will help the kids feel comfortable singing, talking, and sharing their feelings with the class and exploring their musical creativity.
All students deserve the very best music experience! These puppets will help me provide a welcoming classroom for my students and enable them to explore the wonderful world of music! Thank you so much!
