A typical day in my classroom is very busy and productive. Students love to learn, and are eager to do hands-on activities in the classroom and the laboratory setting. "Opportunity is often missed because it is disguised as hard work."
My students are from a tight-knit, rural community who love to show their school spirit and attend many activities provided by our school.
We have small classes, and students get along well with each other. Our school shows pride through the hallways and has good school spirit.
My Project
These materials will be used in the classroom for students to enhance their hands on learning applications by allowing students to collect bugs for mounting purposes, then actually being able to make an entomology collection for us to keep for years to come. We are requesting four insect mounting cases for storage, tweezers, mounting blocks, and mounting pens so my students can work in groups go mount and identify specific species of insects. We will then use the bugs for identification purposes, learning what family and species of insect each is. It is always nice to be able to provide real world applications for students; being in an agriculture class we learn that there are beneficial and harmful insects to our plants, animals, and environment. The study of entomology will enhance all students' learning!
